The 4th Annual Midwest Dairy Herd Health Conference, sponsored by the UW-Extension Dairy Team, is slated for Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 11-12, 2003 at the KI Center in Green Bay.

Organizers of Badger Dairy Camp, which will run June 12 to June 14 at the UW-Madison campus, say the camp is full and no more registrations can be accepted this year.

High schoolers in grades 10 through 12 and enrolled in the 4-H dairy project are invited to apply for the James W. Crowley 4-H Dairy Leadership Awards.

The Wisconsin Cheese Grading Short Course, an intensive two-day course covering the principles and practices involved in grading natural cheeses, will be held June 3-4 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Babcock Hall.

Wisconsin farmers and their families, along with other rural self-employed and small business owners, tend to lack the kind of health insurance coverage that many Wisconsin residents take for granted.

Scholarships worth nearly $75,000 will be awarded to students attending the Farm and Industry Short Course at the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Agricultural and Life Sciences this year.

While summer and county fairs are still a few months away, Wisconsin dairy cattle judges need to be thinking about renewing or obtaining their Wisconsin Purebred Dairy Cattle Association judging certifications. PDCA has scheduled its annual judges training for April 12 at Henk and Bonnie Van Dyk’s Willow’s Edge Farm in New Richmond, WI.

A team of University of Wisconsin-Madison dairy cattle judges placed first in oral reasons and Guernseys at the 2003 Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show -Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, Jan. 12 at Fort Worth, Texas.

Marion L. Jackson, emeritus professor of soil science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002. He was 88 years old.

The University of Wisconsin Madison Farm and Industry Short Course annual alumni reunion will be held in Madison Saturday, Jan. 25. The reunion will be held at the Coliseum Bar (formerly Jingles), 232 E. Olin Ave., across from the Dane County Alliant Center.
