Wisconsin 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Team Places Fifth Overall At Louisville Contest
The Wisconsin 4-H team placed fifth overall out of 23 teams at the North American International Livestock Exposition 4-H Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, held Nov. 7 at Louisville, Kentucky.

Entry Into Dairying
Compared with established dairy farmers, new dairy farmers in Wisconsin are much less likely to be taking over the farm from their parents, and they’re more likely to use off-farm income to supplement their farm income, according to researchers with the Program on Agricultural Technology Studies at UW-Madison’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

UW-Madison Dairy Cattle Judging Teams Post Four Top-6 Finishes
The University of Wisconsin-Madison dairy cattle judging team took first place in oral reasons for the 13 time in the past 19 years at the National Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, Sept. 28 at World Dairy Expo in Madison. The team placed fifth overall among 27 teams, and placed first in Ayrshires, second in Milking Shorthorns, third in Guernseys, and fifth in Holsteins and Brown Swiss.

Cooperative Leader Torgerson Honored At UW-Madison Library Dedication
The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Center for Cooperatives Library, which recently joined the Taylor-Hibbard Library in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics’ Taylor Hall, was officially dedicated as the Truman Torgerson Cooperative Collection in a ceremony held there Friday, Oct. 15.
