Dodge & La Crosse Are Best Herdsmen At 2002 Wisconsin Junior State Fair Dairy Show
Content cows receiving top-notch, ’round-the-clock treatment and exhibits able to pass a “white glove” test were on display at last week’s Wisconsin Junior State Fair Dairy Show as part of the junior herdsmanship competition. Dairy youth exhibitors from 44 Wisconsin counties competed for the title of champion herdsmen.

Rotational Grazer Latest To Join Discovery Farms Program
Bob and Karen Breneman, Rio, are the latest agricultural producers to join the Discovery Farms Program. The Brenemans milk 70 cows and have been rotationally grazing their cattle since 1993.

State 4-H Dairy Judging Team And Individual Contestants Named
Thirteen senior dairy judging teams and nine individuals from across the state will travel to the Wisconsin State Fair Aug. 7 to compete for the State 4-H Champion title and the opportunity to move on to national-level competition.

Badger Dairy Camp Class Of 2002
The Class of 2002 at Badger Dairy Camp, held June 11 to June 15 on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, numbered 111 campers from six states, including Vermont and Ohio.

Kura Clover Will Highlight Pasture Day June 26th At Arlington AG Research Station
The kura clover pastures at the Arlington Agricultural Research station have entered their fourth growing season. The pastures are grazed by dairy cows, and on Wednesday, June 26 they’ll be the focus of a Pasture Day at the station.

Improving Corn Silage Yield And Quality
When it comes to silage corn for dairy cows, selecting an appropriate hybrid and using good management practices can translate into a 17- to 33-percent increase in milk production per year for every acre of corn, according to a University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension corn specialist.

Milk Pasteurization School August 20-21 At UW-Madison
A milk pasteurization and process control certification course will be held Aug. 20-21 at the Babcock Dairy Plant on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.
