UW-Madison competes at All-American Dairy Judging Contest

A team of judges from the UW-Madison Dairy Cattle Judging Team competed at the 40th Annual All-American Collegiate Judging Contest on September 15, 2008 in Harrisburg, PA. The team placed ninth overall with a total score of 1999 points. The team also earned first in Holsteins competing against 17 national teams.

Ted Halbach, Dairy Cattle Evaluation Instructor and Dr. Dave Dickson, emeritus professor of Dairy Science, coached the team.

“This team really performed well given the level of competition,” said Halbach. “For this group of students Harrisburg was the first national competition each of them have participated in and no doubt was a learning experience that will benefit them in future contests.”
