Dodge County 4-H dairy judging team finishes fifth at All-American contest

Fourteen 4-H teams took part in the 40th Annual All-American Dairy Show Invitational Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Contest held September 15, 2008 in Harrisburg, Pen. The Dodge County, Wis. team placed fifth overall with 1845 points. Kyle Natzke led the team, placing sixth overall with 628 points and was the high individual in judging Brown Swiss. Shawn Nehls finished first in the Guernsey breed and seventh in oral reasons and Aaron Bohn placed second in Brown Swiss. The team placed fourth in oral reasons, first in Guernseys, third in Brown Swiss, fourth in Ayrshires and fifth in Holsteins.

The team was coached by Kevin Jorgenson, Waupun and Todd and Christa Wendorf, Ixonia. The Dodge County team placed third overall at the Wisconsin State 4-H Dairy Judging Contest held in Polk County on July 25. This third place finish earned them the opportunity to represent Wisconsin at the All-American Invitational Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Contest.

“They were a fantastic group of young men to work with. They worked extremely hard which resulted in a great finish, earning fifth place team overall,” said Coach Kevin Jorgenson.

The Wisconsin 4-H Foundation”s Dairy Endowment Fund helped sponsor the team.
