Pierce County Represents Wisconsin At National 4-H Dairy Judging Contest

A team of youth dairy cattle judges from Pierce County, Wis. competed in the 86th Annual National 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Contest held Monday, October 1, 2007 in Madison, Wis. Among the 29 teams competing, Pierce County”s team earned 8th place honors overall and placed 6th in Oral Reasons. Leading this team was Hayden Hauschildt of Ellsworth, Wis. He placed 3rd overall, being named an All-American and was 8th in Oral Reasons. The team also was 2nd place in Ayrshires, 3rd in Guernseys, and 7th in Brown Swiss.

The Wisconsin 4-H Team Placed:
8th High Team Overall (1953 points) Minnesota 4-H placed first at the contest.

In order to compete at the National Contest, Piecre County”s team earned top overall honors at the Wisconsin State 4-H Dairy Judging Contest on July 27, 2007. At the State contest, 52 seniors from 10 teams competed for the chance to represent Wisconsin at the National 4-H Dairy Judging Contest.

“Our team really seemed to enjoy the experience,” said Coach Bob Traynor. “We really stressed that this is a great opportunity and a big deal, and they really gelled like a team.”
The Wisconsin 4-H Foundation”s Dairy Endowment Fund helped sponsor the team.
