    WALSAA Farm Progress Days Picnic July 14

    The Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association will hold its Farm Progress Days Picnic from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 14. The picnic will be held at the Lancaster Agricultural Research Station, 4 miles south of Lancaster on Wisconsin Highways 35 and 81, just a few miles from the Farm Progress Days site.

    Kwik Trip Founder’s Gift Funds Babcock Hall Dair Store Renovation

    John Hansen of LaCrosse, founder of the Kwik Trip chain of convenience stores, and his wife, Donna, have donated $350,000 to the UW Foundation to renovate the dairy store in Babcock Hall at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

    Four Inducted Into Wisconsin Meat Industry Hall Of Fame

    Greenpeace Founder To Lecture On Environmentalism For The Next Century

    Patrick Moore, a founding member of Greenpeace, will give the Roddis Lecture May 3 at 3:30 p.m. at the State Historical Society auditorium on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. His speech is entitled “Environmentalism for the 21st Century.” A reception will follow the lecture. The event is free and open to the public.

    Another Y2K Issue For Farmers: EPA To Begin Implementing Food Quality Protection Act

    The millennium is coming, and with it a new era in how the United States oversees pesticides and other hazardous chemicals. Next year will be the first time farmers are affected by the Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA), which Congress passed unanimously in 1996.

    Dorshorst, Hagenow Win Honors At Holstein Convention

    Matt Dorshorst of Junction City and Amy Hagenow of Reedsville were named WHA Outstanding Boy and Girl at the Wisconsin Holstein Association’s Junior Holstein Convention. The convention was held in early January at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
