Henry Ahlgren, UW-Madison agronomist, dead at 95
Henry L. Ahlgren, emeritus professor of agronomy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, died Jan. 22, 2004 at Attic Angel Place in Middleton, Wis. He was 95 years old.

Nominations sought for 2004 Junior State Fair dairy themes
Nominations are being sought for 2004 Wisconsin Junior State Fair dairy themes. Please submit suggestions to Ted Halbach, University of Wisconsin-Madison extension dairy youth specialist, by March 1, 2004. Last year’s dairy themes were “From Our Place to the Dairy Case” and “Celebrating Family Farms Past, Present and Future.”

UW-Madison dairy cattle judges take second at 2003 North American International Livestock Exposition judging contest
A team of dairy cattle judges from the University of Wisconsin-Madison took second place overall at the Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, held Nov. 9 at the 2003 North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Ky. The UW-Madison team scored 2,094 points – 3 points behind first place California Polytechnic State University. The Madison team was 1st in Brown Swiss, 2nd in oral reasons, 3rd in Jerseys, and 4th in Guernseys.

Wisconsin 4-Hers take third at 2003 North American International Livestock Exposition dairy cattle judging contest
The Wisconsin 4-H team placed third high team overall at the Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Contest held Nov. 9 at the 2003 North American International Livestock Exposition, Louisville, Ky. Pennsylvania 4-H won the contest, followed by Michigan 4-H; 21 4-H and FFA youth teams competed.
