UW-Madison dairy cattle judges take second at 2003 North American International Livestock Exposition judging contest
A team of dairy cattle judges from the University of Wisconsin-Madison took second place overall at the Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, held Nov. 9 at the 2003 North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Ky. The UW-Madison team scored 2,094 points – 3 points behind first place California Polytechnic State University. The Madison team was 1st in Brown Swiss, 2nd in oral reasons, 3rd in Jerseys, and 4th in Guernseys.

Wisconsin 4-Hers take third at 2003 North American International Livestock Exposition dairy cattle judging contest
The Wisconsin 4-H team placed third high team overall at the Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Contest held Nov. 9 at the 2003 North American International Livestock Exposition, Louisville, Ky. Pennsylvania 4-H won the contest, followed by Michigan 4-H; 21 4-H and FFA youth teams competed.

Daluge to receive Honorary American FFA Degree
Richard Daluge, an assistant dean at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and director of the Farm and Industry Short Course, has been nominated by the Wisconsin Association of FFA, Inc. to receive the Honorary American FFA Degree. The award is given to those who advance agricultural education and FFA through outstanding personal commitment.

UW-Madison dairy cattle judges compete at Accelerated Genetics Judging Contest
A team of dairy cattle judges from the University of Wisconsin-Madison took fourth place at the Accelerated Genetics 10th Annual Midwest Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, Sept. 14 at Viroqua, Wis. Tom Agnew of Marengo, Ill., a senior majoring in dairy science, was second high individual overall and 6th in oral reasons.

Buege honored by ASDA with Signal Service Award
Dennis R. Buege, professor and Extension meat scientist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, received the 2003 American Meat Science Association Signal Service Award June 18 at the 56th Annual Reciprocal Meat Conference in Columbia, Mo. The AMSA Signal Service Award is given to members in recognition of devoted service and lasting contributions to the meat industry and to the association. This award was sponsored by The Solae Company, St. Louis, Mo.
