    2005 Dairy Quiz Bowl competition set for Jan. 29

    Entries are due Jan. 10 for the 2005 Wisconsin 4-H Dairy Bowl competition. The event will be held Saturday, Jan. 29 at the Portage High School in Portage, Wis., starting at 9:45 a.m. Dairy Bowl is a quiz competition in which all the questions are about dairy topics. Teams compete in a double-elimination format by giving oral answers to questions posed by a moderator. Each match has both an individual and toss-up question round.

    Wisconsin 4-H Team takes first in national dairy cattle judging contest at World Dairy Expo

    A team of 4-H dairy cattle judges from Dodge County took first place at the 83rd Annual National 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, held Sept. 27 at World Dairy Expo in Madison. The Wisconsin team placed high team overall out of 30 state 4-H teams, coming in 20 points ahead of second-place Michigan. This marks the fourth year out of the last five that a Wisconsin county team has won the contest.

    UW-Madison takes third in national collegiate judging contest at World Dairy Expo

    For the 15th time since 1980, the University of Wisconsin-Madison dairy cattle judging team has won the prestigious Oral Reasons competition at the National Collegiate Dairy Cattle Judging contest. The UW-Madison team placed third overall at the contest; 25 national and international teams competed at World Dairy Expo in Madison.

    Seven to receive Honorary Recognition awards from the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Oct. 27

    The Crave brothers of Waterloo, Lawrie Kull of Stillwater, Minn., Robert Rennebohm of Madison, and Robert Williams of Pardeeville will receive Honorary Recognition awards Oct. 27 from the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The awards will be presented at a banquet in the Memorial Union on the UW-Madison campus.

    UW-Madison team takes third at Eastern States Exposition Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest

    A team of dairy cattle judges from the University of Wisconsin-Madison competed at the Eastern States Exposition Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, Sept. 18 at West Springfield, Mass. The UW-Madison team placed third overall and was second in Milking Shorthorns, Jerseys and Holsteins, and third in Brown Swiss.

    UW-Madison Dairy cattle judges compete at Accelerated Genetics Judging Contest

    Three teams of dairy cattle judges from the University of Wisconsin-Madison competed at the Accelerated Genetics 11th Annual Midwest Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, Sept. 19 at Viroqua, Wis. The UW-Madison Team C placed fourth overall, second in Jerseys, and third in oral reasons.

    Web Resource Helps in Planning for Smart Growth
