UW-Madison team takes third at Eastern States Exposition Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest

A team of dairy cattle judges from the University of Wisconsin-Madison competed at the Eastern States Exposition Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, Sept. 18 at West Springfield, Mass. The UW-Madison team placed third overall and was second in Milking Shorthorns, Jerseys and Holsteins, and third in Brown Swiss.

3rd in Oral Reasons

Eight national university teams competed; Cornell University took first place. Ted Halbach, dairy cattle evaluation instructor, and Dave Dickson, emeritus professor of dairy science, coached the teams. Steve Fronk of Almena, Wis. and the UW Foundation”s David Dickson Dairy Cattle Judging Team Fund sponsored the team.
