The University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) is preparing to celebrate its 125th anniversary with a festive barn dance—and it’s shaping up to be a great party, with a live band, fish fry, silent auction and more. Alumni and friends of the college are invited to join the fun from 5:00 – 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28 at Crane Farms in Burlington, Wis.
A local DJ will kick things off, followed by a two-hour set by Miller Rhythm & Brews Revue, a Milwaukee-based cover band composed of MillerCoors employees that specializes in popular, danceable hits from the last five decades.
Guests can enjoy a traditional fish fry between 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. served up by CALS alumnus Terry Droessler and his family. Other dinner options include sauerkraut, brats, hotdogs and a vegetarian entrée option, as well as a variety of traditional sides. For those with a sweet tooth, homemade desserts and CALS’ anniversary ice cream “Happy Cranniversary” will be served throughout the evening.
A silent auction will be held during the event, giving guests the opportunity to bid on a range of unique items, including a jersey and football signed by Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson.
Guests will also have the opportunity to congratulate CALS alumna Zoey Brooks, who was recently crowned the state’s 67th Alice in Dairyland and plans to attend the event.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. The cost covers food and entertainment, plus three drink tickets, which can be used to redeem a variety of beverages, including an assortment of MillerCoors offerings. All proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction will go to support CALS education, research and outreach programs.
