Prospective students have until Nov. 23 to apply for the Ice Cream Makers Short Course on Dec. 5-7, sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Food Science.
The course offers three days of hands-on ice cream manufacturing experience at Babcock Hall, including lab work with low-fat ice cream, sherbet and learning about quality control procedures.
The $699 course fee includes instructional materials, speaker expenses, lunch and refreshments.
Registrants need to secure their own lodging. Group rates are available at the Best Western InnTowner (2424 University Ave., 608.233.8778) and the Double Tree Hotel (525 W. Johnson St., 608.251.5511). Permits for on-campus parking for the duration of the conference can be purchased for an additional $24 by checking the appropriate box on the registration form.
