The Wisconsin 4-H Team, represented by Walworth County, placed 8th High Team Overall at the 82nd Annual National 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, held Sept. 30 at World Dairy Expo in Madison. The Wisconsin team scored 1,937 points and placed 5th in Holsteins, 6th in Brown Swiss and 8th in Oral Reasons. Minnesota won the contest; 31 state 4-H teams competed.
Individual awards and team members: Jerome Meyer of Elkhorn (9th High Individual Overall, 7th in Oral Reasons and 6th in Brown Swiss), Emily Hurtgen of East Troy, Dan Lauderdale of Elkhorn, and Sarah Adams of Delavan.
Lisa Konkel of Lake Geneva and Gene Lauderdale and Dave Kyle of Elkhorn coached the team. Walworth County won the State 4-H Dairy Judging Contest Aug. 6, earning the opportunity to represent Wisconsin at the National 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Contest held during World Dairy Expo.
