Wisconsin 4-H Team Takes Third At Pennsylvania Dairy Cattle Judging Contest
A team of 4-H dairy cattle judges from Walworth County placed third at the 34th All American Dairy Show Invitational Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, held Sept. 23 at Harrisburg, Pa.
The Wisconsin 4-H team placed 3rd high team overall (1,841 points), 4th in Ayrshires, 4th in oral reasons and 5th in Holsteins. Fourteen state 4-H teams competed at the contest.
Individual awards and team members:
Jerome Meyer of Elkhorn was 3rd high individual overall, 3rd in Brown Swiss and 2nd in oral reasons.
Emily Hurtgen of Elkhorn was 6th high individual overall, 5th in Ayrshires and 5th in Holsteins.
Dan Lauderdale of Elkhorn and Ryan Adams of Elkhorn also competed.
Lisa Konkel of Lake Geneva, Gene Lauderdale of Elkhorn, and Dave Kyle of Elkhorn coached the team. Walworth County finished second at the State 4-H Dairy Judging Contest Aug. 7, earning the opportunity to represent Wisconsin at the Pennsylvania contest.
