Bob Williams of Pardeeville, who recently retired from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, received the 2001 Service to Agriculture Award from the Farm and Industry Short Course at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
After farming, owning a grocery storie, and teaching high-school agriculture, Williams joined DATCP as a marketing specialist, working with agricultural commodity groups representing maple syrup, Christmas tree, and fruit and vegetable producers. He spent much of his time as the county fairs coordinator, working with the 76 fairs in the state, and administering the state aid and rules that apply to fairs.
While officially retired, he has been rehired part time to continue his work with county fairs. He also teaches a course on county fairs in the Short Course and has been an active alumnus of the College.
