Parents And Students Can Preview UW Farm Short Course December 6, 7 or 12

The College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites prospective students, including high school juniors and seniors, and their parents to preview what the Farm and Industry Short Course has to offer.

Short Course is a one- or two-year program open to high school graduates interested in farming or one of Wisconsin”s many other agricultural industries. The program, which runs from November to April, has an average enrollment of 135 students.

Visitors can tour the campus and attend classes in livestock housing, introductory soil science, farm machinery and dairy herd management from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, Thursday, Dec. 7, or Tuesday, Dec. 12. Assistant Dean Richard Daluge will welcome visitors and answer questions, and current students, house fellows and alumni will give their perspectives on the program. Visitors can tour the Short Course Dormitories, and learn about the many scholarship opportunities in Short Course and the types of careers available to graduates.

To register, mail the student”s name, address, high school, whether one or more parents will attend, and the preview date you prefer to: Farm Short Course, 116 Agriculture Hall, UW-Madison, Madison, WI 53706. Or, you can call in that information to (608) 263-3918. The registration deadline is Nov. 13 if you wish to have parking information mailed to you. Otherwise, you may register up until Nov. 27, but you will have to pick up your own parking permits at the campus parking office.
