Bob Williams, a retired state ag official, and Ag Source/CRI will be honored for their contributions to the University of Wisconsin Madison Farm and Industry Short Course at the annual alumni reunion in Madison Saturday, Jan. 27. The reunion will be held at Jingles restaurant, 232 E. Olin Ave., across from the Dane County Alliant Center.
The Service to Agriculture Award will go to Williams, who recently retired from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Williams worked on a variety of ag marketing issues and was the supervisor of county fairs. He was also an agriculture instructor at Montello. The Friend of Short Course Award will go to Ag Source/Cooperative Resources International for their many years of supporting Short Course scholarships.
The day begins at 10:30 a.m. with a seminar on strategic grain marketing presented by Randy Fortenbery, a UW-Madison ag economist, and John Kraus, a Short Course alumnus and grain merchandiser The seminar will be followed by a social hour at 11:30 a.m. and a luncheon at 12:15 p.m. Roxanne Westphal, Alice in Dairyland, and Elton Aberle, dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the UW-Madison, have been invited.
