Wisconsin Rep. Alvin Ott of Brillion and East Central Select Sires will be honored for their contributions to the University of Wisconsin Madison Farm and Industry Short Course at its annual alumni reunion in Madison Saturday, Jan. 29. The reunion will be held at Jingles restaurant, 232 E. Olin Ave., across from the Dane County Coliseum.
This year”s Service to Agriculture Award will go to Ott, a member of the Wisconsin Assembly since 1986. A former agri-business salesman, owner and operator of an independent agri-business, tenant dairy farmer, and cash crop farmer, Ott currently co-chairs the Assembly”s Committee on Agriculture. Ott is a 1968 graduate of the Farm and Industry Short Course and continues to support the program.
East Central Select Sires will receive the Friend of Short Course Award. East Central Select Sires is a major donor of Short Course scholarships.
The reunion begins at 10:30 a.m. with a seminar, “Nutritional Management: Using Manure Wisely,” presented by Dennis Frame, Trempealeau County Extension Agent. The seminar will be followed by a social hour at 11:30 a.m. and a buffet luncheon at 12:15 p.m.
The cost of the event is $15. Because the event features a buffet luncheon this year, reservations must be received by Jan. 20.
