December 2nd Marshfield Dairy Day To Focus On Milking

Dairy Day, Dec. 2 at the Marshfield Agricultural Research Station, will focus on milking equipment, milker health and udder health.

Timothy Rehbein, Vernon County agricultural agent, will discuss milking parlors of all shapes and sizes, and Doug Reinemann, extension biological systems engineer at the UW-Madison”s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, will talk about robotic milking in central Wisconsin. John Williams Sr. of the Marshfield Clinic will review the long- and short-term risks of milking cows.

After break, UW-Madison extension dairy specialist Pam Ruegg will talk about mastitis treatment and control, and Clark County dairy agent Matt Jorgensen will provide an overview of milker training videos. Dairy specialist Pat Hoffman will review dairy research at the Marshfield station, and station superintendent Tom Drendel will discuss the expansion project.

The program will run from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2. Snacks and beverages will be available during the noon break.
