WALSAA Football Fireup Most Successful Ever
More than $18,000 was raised for scholarships at the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the annual WALSAA Football Fireup and Auction Sept. 11.
Chairperson James Crowley, Madison, reported that more than 1,100 alumni and friends attended the pre-football game luncheon and fundraiser held at the UW Stock Pavilion. Proceeds from the Auction amounted to a record $8,000, and another $5,000 was raised in donations from each Fireup attendee, which is matched by the UW Foundation.
Another scholarship fundraiser was held Sept. 10, when 40 alumni and friends golfed at Lake Windsor Country Club for scholarships. Hole sponsors for this event netted another $1,800 for the endowed scholarship fund. Eric Olstad, Brad Pinchart, and Tim Lange co-chaired the event.
WALSAA was founded in 1972 and is the official alumni group of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. WALSAA”s 2,000 members provide both monetary and volunteer support for the College, its students and faculty. They award more than $12,000 annually in scholarships for undergraduates and provide a faculty advising award.
