    Dodge & La Crosse Are Best Herdsmen At 2002 Wisconsin Junior State Fair Dairy Show

    Content cows receiving top-notch, ’round-the-clock treatment and exhibits able to pass a “white glove” test were on display at last week’s Wisconsin Junior State Fair Dairy Show as part of the junior herdsmanship competition. Dairy youth exhibitors from 44 Wisconsin counties competed for the title of champion herdsmen.

    White cabbage butterflies may soon be soaring through space as well as fluttering across your garden. The butterflies and special fast-growing plants will be the focus of a NASA-sponsored workshop for biology teachers in late July on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.

    Internet Site Provides Farm Financial Benchmarks

    Farm managers can now visit an Internet site, select a group of farms and see a breakdown on production costs for farms similar to theirs. Such benchmark reports can help others in farming by providing a reference for comparisons. Researchers also will use the site to analyze the economic performance of farms.

    UW Agronomy Field Day Set For September 5th

    This year’s Agronomy Field Day has a new feature – a tillage equipment demonstration – in addition to exhibits and four tours that highlight current crops and soils research.
