    Two CALS Instructors Join Wisconsin Teaching Academy

    As classes resume this fall on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, the Wisconsin Teaching Academy will begin its eleventh year of strengthening instruction through peer mentoring and leadership. This year, two College of Agricultural and Life Sciences professors were among the fellows inducted into the university-wide organization.

    WALSAA Farm Technology Days annual picnic Sept. 22

    College of Agricultural and Life Sciences graduates and Short Course graduates are invited to attend a picnic atFarm Technology Days Picnic in Bloomer on Wednesday, Sept. 22 from 3:30 p.m to 7:30 p.m. The picnic is sponsored by the Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association.

    Schuler named ASAE fellow

    Ronald T. Schuler, a professor of biological systems engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. Schuler was inducted at a ceremony Aug. 4 at the 2004 ASAE Annual International Meeting in Ottawa, Ontario.

    Ag College Football Fire-Up Sept. 11 at West Madison Research Station

    On Saturday, Sept. 11, the Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association will hold its 30h annual Football Fire-Up at the West Madison Agricultural Research Station. The Fire-Up will start at 8 a.m. and run to 10 a.m., prior to the game against Nevada-Las Vegas. Shuttle buses ($5) will run between the West Madison station and the Stock Pavilion before and after the game.

    WALSAA scholarship golf tournament set for September 10

    The Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association Scholarship Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 10 at the Oaks Golf Club in Sun Prairie, with a shotgun start at noon.

    University of Wisconsin-Madison forestry students win Upper Midwest Capstone Competition

    Matthew Burczyk, Amy Jahnke, Katie McMahon and Samuel Nitz from the University of Wisconsin-Madison were selected as authors of the first place capstone report in the annual Upper Midwest Capstone Competition. A team from Michigan Tech placed second; teams from Iowa State and from Michigan Tech tied for third place.

    A thank-you from the Ride To Farm cyclists

    We made it! Our small, yet determined, group of five riders completed the 225-mile ride from Eau Claire to Madison June 25-June 28 in great spirits (and with only ‘slightly’aching muscles!). We five Riders parted friends-for-life, united by a common goal and accomplishment; it was an experience that none of us will ever forget.
