The Land Tenure Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has been awarded $2.5 million for research and technical assistance in two regions of the world. The LTC, a global resource institution promoting equitable access to land, begins its advisory work on new projects in Zimbabwe, in southern Africa, and in Trinidad and Tobago, in the Caribbean. Each project builds on the Center’s extensive experience with land reform and land administration in these regions.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison dairy cattle judging team took first place in oral reasons for the 13 time in the past 19 years at the National Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, Sept. 28 at World Dairy Expo in Madison. The team placed fifth overall among 27 teams, and placed first in Ayrshires, second in Milking Shorthorns, third in Guernseys, and fifth in Holsteins and Brown Swiss.

Richard Klemme, professor of Agricultural and Applied Economics and director of the Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has been named associate dean for Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension, a joint position between UW-Madison’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and Cooperative Extension, UW-Extension.

George W. Sledge, a longtime administrator in the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, died Wednesday, Oct 20, of cancer. He was 71 years old.
