Wisconsin 4-H Team tops All-American Dairy Show Judging Contest
A team of 4-H dairy cattle judges from Wisconsin took first place with the high team overall score at the 35th All American Dairy Show Invitational Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, Sept. 22 at Harrisburg, Pa. Joe Sarbacker of Verona was second high individual overall and 4th in Brown Swiss.

Center for Integrated Ag Systems selected as a Pesticide Reduction Champion
The UW-Madison Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems has been selected by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program Champion for 2003. This designation honors CIAS for its efforts to reduce pesticide risk through sustainable agricultural practices such as Integrated Pest Management and organic farming.

Milking Machine Workshops Offered at UW-Madison
The College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is offering courses on milking machines, milking management and milk quality. The courses are primarily for veterinarians, industry professionals, and milking operation managers who have a basic level of knowledge and some field experience.

Cheese grading short course Nov. 5-6 at UW-MADISON

Marshfield Ag Station Dairy Herd To Be Sold
The Marshfield Agricultural Research Station is liquidating its herd of registered Holsteins prior to the move to its new heifer facilities. The herd, about 50 milking cows and 20 bred heifers, will be sold as two units (cows and heifers; no individual animal sales) via sealed bids to the highest bidder.
