Wisconsin 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Team Places Fifth Overall At Louisville Contest
The Wisconsin 4-H team placed fifth overall out of 23 teams at the North American International Livestock Exposition 4-H Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, held Nov. 7 at Louisville, KY.
The team placed third in Holsteins, sixth in Ayrshires, and seventh in Oral Reasons and Jerseys.
Individual awards and team members were: Mandi Puttkamer of Baraboo, eighth high individual, first in Ayrshires, first in Guernseys and second in Oral Reasons; Jenny Byl of Grantsburg, second in Holsteins; Jenny Wackershauser of Lancaster, ninth in Jerseys; and Brian Kozlowski of Reedsburg, seventh in Brown Swiss.
The team was coached by Ted Halbach, UW-Madison Extension Dairy Youth Specialist. The team from Wisconsin that competes at the NAILE consists of judges who had high individual placings at the state contest.
