UW offers Spanish for Dairy Industry language courses

The University of Wisconsin–Madison’s Farm and Industry Short Course program will be offering its annual Spanish for Dairy Industry short course series starting in late August. The two-part online training is designed for individuals looking to learn important technical vocabulary for communicating in Spanish on a dairy farm or in the dairy industry.

The upcoming introductory course – Level 1 – opens Aug. 26 and is for people with little to no Spanish language experience. The four-week course, which can be taken at a self-directed pace or with an instructor, covers relevant terminology and syntax for basic understanding of the Spanish language, and also introduces Spanish vocabulary and grammar used in the dairy industry.

For participants who choose to take the course at a self-directed pace, a new module opens each week starting Aug. 26. For participants who take the course with an instructor, live online sessions will be held on Wednesdays, 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. CDT, on September 4, 11, 18 and 25.

The cost is $250. Participants can earn up to 20 DairyAdvanCE CEU credits.

Level 2 of the Spanish for Dairy Industry series will run January–February 2025 with live online sessions on Feb. 5, 12, 19 and 26. Cost for Level 2 is $250. A bundle price of $450 is available for people who sign up for Level 1 and Level 2 at the same time. The two courses can be taken in sequence or on their own.
