ARS Director Mike Peters statement on Jun. 26 fire at UW–Madison Arlington Ag Research Station
Mike Peters, director of the UW–Madison Agricultural Research Station network, shared the following statement on Monday, Jun. 27.
I wish to thank the first responders and UWPD for an efficient response to the fire. Their quick response and professional service kept the fire to one structure. Most importantly there were no injuries to people and no animals were harmed. I also wish to thank station manager Mike Bertram and the Arlington crew members – their quick thinking saved many valuable pieces of equipment that were immediately adjacent to the fire.
The damage is limited to property loss, including a hay shed and equipment that was stored within it.
The station will be open as usual the week of June 27. Those with business at the station, including attending public events, should proceed as planned, however, we ask that those without regular business refrain from visiting the station as the staff continue the clean-up and restoration work.
