How are gummy bears made? In this episode of Blue Sky Science, food science professor Rich Hartel, who runs an annual “Candy School” for confectionery professionals, answered that sticky question posed by Kai Sampson.

Blue Sky Science was a collaboration of the Wisconsin State Journal and the Morgridge Institute for Research. Scientific questions were posed by visitors to Science Saturdays, a monthly series at the Discovery Building. The Blue Sky Science team then set out to find an expert to answer the questions.
