Wisconsin: No.1 cranberry producer in the world

October was harvesting time for cranberry farmers in Wisconsin. Aided by UW-Madison research, cranberry bushes are producing higher yields with heartier and sweeter berries, with a shorter time to maturity. Wisconsin has become the international leader in cranberry production and is now responsible for approximately 60 percent of the world’s crop. Video by UW-Madison with special thanks to Rocky Biegel and Dempze Cranberry Company.

On Tuesday, October 27, Chancellor Rebecca Blank and CALS Dean Kate VandenBosch visited Cranberry Creek Cranberries, talked to growers and saw the farm’s 850 acres. Read more about their visit here.
