A visit to Spooner Ag Research Station

The Spooner Ag Research Station is the oldest of the college’s outlying research sites. Because it’s the northernmost research station focused on general agriculture, its fieldwork focuses on crop varieties, soil fertility, pest control, irrigation management and other cultural factors affecting short-season crops. In one respect it stands apart from all other agricultural research facilities in the state, the nation or anywhere south or north of the U.S.: It boasts the only dairy sheep research program in the Western Hemisphere.
