The University of Wisconsin Meat Science and Muscle Biology Program invites members of the media to events honoring the 2014 graduating class of Master Meat Crafters on Friday, January 17 in Madison.
The Master Meat Crafter Program is a one-of-a-kind training program that is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge of meat science, food safety and meat processing. Twenty-two graduates have completed two and a half years of instruction and project work to earn the distinction of a Master Meat Crafter on Friday.
This is only the second graduating class in the nation. Seventeen Master Meat Crafters completed the program in 2012. As a Master Meat Crafter, the graduates use a seal of distinction on their products signifying their accreditation.
Beginning at 8:00 a.m., each member of the graduating class will give a twenty-minute presentation about their project work at the UW Pyle Center. The banquet and graduation ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Double Tree Hotel.
