Media advisory: Potato Variety Harvest Expo Oct. 30-31 at Hancock Ag Research Station
Editors and broadcasters are invited to attend the 2013 Potato Variety Harvest Expo at the Hancock Ag. Research Station, Wednesday Oct.30 and Thursday Oct 31, from 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. each day. During the Expo, more than 200 potato varieties developed by researchers here and in the region will be on display. Potato researchers, growers, and packers will review and discuss the merits of the many new potato varieties for public release.
Station superintendent Felix Navarro says that growers and packers will have the opportunity during the Expo to vote for the varieties they wish to see released. Results of the balloting will be taken into account when researchers decide which new varieties are suitable to grow.
Media will have the opportunity to visit with growers and researchers during the event. UW-Madison horticulture agent, A.J. Bussan, plant breeder, Jeff Endelman, and Bryan Bowen, Rhinelander Ag Research Station will be on hand for interviews and photo ops. Navarro expects that Wednesday, Oct. 30 will be the busiest day.
The Hancock Ag. Research Station is located at N3909 County Rd. V, Hancock Wisc.54943.
