Nov. 15 deadline for 2011 sheep shearing school

Learn how to shear sheep at the annual Beginning Sheep Shearing School, Saturday and Sunday, December 3 and 4, 2011 at the Arlington Agricultural Research Station, Sheep Unit, Arlington, Wis. The school covers basic shearing skills including sheep handling, shearing positions, wool handling, and equipment care and maintenance. Shearing equipment is available at the school or bring your own tools.

Cost of the school is $75.00 per participant. Registration includes lunch both days. Lodging is not included, but a list of local hotels is available. Contact Todd Taylor (608-846-5858, toddtaylor@wisc.edu) with questions and for registration information. The registration deadline is November 15, 2010. Enroll early because space is limited.

The school is organized by the Department of Animal Sciences, University of Wisconsin-Madison; Cooperative Extension, University of Wisconsin-Extension; and the Wisconsin Sheep Breeders Cooperative.
