Applications For UW-Madison Farm And Industry Short Course Due By Oct. 1
Prospective students have until Oct. 1 to apply for the 2006-2007 Farm and Industry Short Course at the University of Wisconsin-Madison”s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
Orientation will be held Oct.19. The first six-week session begins Nov. 13, the second session begins Jan. 22, and the final session starts Feb. 12, ending with graduation March 23.
Students can choose from more than 40 agricultural and horticultural courses in specialties such as dairy farm management, beef/swine management, farm mechanics, farm service and supply, and crops and soils. For the first time this year, the College is offering a green industry specialty that includes courses in production landscape construction and greenhouse management. Practical on-the-job experience is available through internships.
Dormitory accommodations are still available on a first-come, first-served basis. The College awards nearly $80,000 in Short Course scholarships, and many local businesses give additional financial aid. Approximately 125 students enroll annually in the short course program.
