The annual Short Course Alumni Reunion is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Coliseum Bar (formerly Jingles) on Olin Avenue in Madison. The day will begin with a 10:30 a.m. seminar on estate planning by professor Phil Harris, followed by an 11:30 a.m. social hour. Phil Harris teaches farm law in Short Course and CALS degree programs. A turkey and ham buffet lunch will be served at 12:15 p.m. followed by a short program. As usual there will be ample door prizes donated by many agri-business companies.
The Short Course Service to Agriculture Award will be presented to Marlowe Nelson of Westby and the Friend of Short Course Award will be given to John Oncken of Oncken Communications. Alice in Dairyland Betsy Francoeur of Merrill will speak, along with CALS dean Elton Aberle. This year special recognition will be given to all alumni in the Half Century Club (graduates of 1954 or earlier), as well as classes from 1964, 1974, 1984 and 1994.
Short Course president Lynn Harbaugh encourages attendees to make reservations by Jan. 15. The cost will be $17.50 person. If you need lodging in Madison either Friday or Saturday night, call the Holiday Inn Express (608-255-7400) on John Nolen Drive, just blocks from Jingles at $99 per room plus tax.
