Deadline For Short Course Scholarships Is April 1st

Scholarships worth nearly $60,000 will be awarded to students attending the Farm and Industry Short Course at the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Agricultural and Life Sciences this year.

Applications for the awards are due April 1, according to Richard Daluge, director of the Short Course. Applications are available from high school agriculture instructors, ag extension agents or from the Short Course Office, 116 Agriculture Hall, UW-Madison, Madison, WI 53706. The application should include a high school transcript and three letters of recommendation.

Almost three-quarters of last year”s applicants qualified for scholarships averaging about $650. Daluge said that many local scholarships are also available for supporting Short Course attendance.

The 2000-01 Short Course attracted 140 students from six states and four foreign countries. UW-Madison professors teach about 40 subjects as part of Short Course.
