Ten scientists at the University of Wisconsin-Madison”s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences have been named Vilas Associates for 2000-2001. The appointment provides $10,000 in research funding each year for two years.
The new Vilas Associates at CALS are Caitilyn Allen (Plant Pathology), Allan Attie (Biochemistry), Daniel Gianola (Animal Sciences), Robert Goodman (Plant Pathology), Hazel Holden (Biochemistry/Enzyme Institute), Keith Kelling (Soil Science), Denise Ney (Nutritional Sciences), Thomas Osborn (Agronomy), Kenneth Raffa (Entomology), and Gary Roberts (Bacteriology).
Researchers can use the funding for research-related books, travel, supplies or similar expenses. A total of 52 Vilas Associate awards were given this year to faculty in the biological sciences, physical sciences, social sciences, and humanities at the UW-Madison. CALS researchers received nine of the 13 awards given to faculty in the biological sciences.
