Wilfrid Turba, Dave Dickson and the Wisconsin Public Service Corporation will be honored for their contributions to the University of Wisconsin-Madison Farm and Industry Short Course at its annual alumni reunion Jan. 24 in Madison.
The reunion begins with a seminar at 10:30 a.m., followed by a reception from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and a luncheon – all at Jingles restaurant, 232 E. Olin Ave., across from the Dane County Coliseum.
Members of the Marketing Division of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection will give the seminar. The topic is Wisconsin agriculture in the international marketplace. Emeritus dairy science professor Dave Dickson will be the master of ceremonies for the luncheon.
This year”s Service to Agriculture Awards will go to Turba, of Sheboygan County, and to Dickson. Turba, a 1946 graduate of the Farm and Industry Short Course, served in the Wisconsin Assembly and is a member of DATCP”s Board of Directors. Dickson coached numerous UW-Madison dairy judging teams to national honors and is being recognized for his work with youth and improving Wisconsin dairy herds.
The Wisconsin Public Service Corporation will receive the Friend of Short Course Award. The company has supported Short Course scholarships for more than 30 years.
The cost of the event is $11 for members of the Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association and for non-members. Reservations must be received by Jan. 17.
