WALSAA Celebrates 25 Years

The Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association has completed 25 years of service to the UW-Madison”s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and its alumni and students.

WALSAA was founded on Jan. 19, 1972, according to WALSAA president Gary Wagner of Madison. In recognition of these years of service, a major celebration is planned for April 4-5 on the UW-Madison campus.

“Strengthening Connections” is the theme for the 25th Anniversary celebration, which will include a Saturday afternoon open house on the CALS campus, a Saturday noon luncheon, and a Saturday morning symposium of faculty and student presentations. On Friday, the D. C. Smith Greenhouses will be dedicated, and Gamma Sigma Delta honor society will host the annual CALS faculty and student awards banquet Friday evening.

WALSAA supports a variety of CALS programs. It awards $10,000 in scholarships annually, supports the Wisconsin Rural Leadership Program, recruits prospective students, and provides funding for the CALS Ambassadors. WALSAA sponsors the annual Football Fireup, Short Course Alumni Reunion, and a Farm Progress Days picnic.
